At Concept Home Care no two days are the same, despite similar jobs needing to be covered each week. Whilst I normally ‘man’ the desk, Richard will often be out meeting with clients and visiting carers at work.
My job entails sorting through rotas and paying staff members. I also process DBS checks for new staff members and enrol them on training. Keeping on top of paperwork is key and each meeting or phone call that takes place is recorded if it is between a client or carer and us.
Richard travels across the North West visiting live in care clients and making sure they are happy with the care they receive. As well as sending out questionnaires to make sure that our clients are happy, Richard likes to visit the clients and chat to them about their ongoing care needs.
It’s an unusual job, as people work 9-5pm so we will often need to take calls in the evening and at the weekends. It’s a bit like being on call all the time really so we are always approachable.
Our new office is in Beck House in Knutsford town centre and one of the great things about the new office (apart from plenty of space!) is the conference room downstairs. This is where we hold interviews and it’s a great place to meet clients’ families if they wish to pop in to our convenient office.
Richard will visit carers when they are working, to carry out spot-checks and to make sure they are providing good care. We also attend local networking events and meet up for coffee with prospective clients and friends throughout the day.
